“Sea-Fever”

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

Breadth #5 – Research & Inspiration

Brainstorm-

My favorite movie is Howl’s Moving Castle. Because it is very abstract and it brings back my childhood.

The story line of this movie is trying to break free from the spell that is casted on each of the characters. The witch of the waste casts a spell on Sophie which turns her old. Howl got his heart stolen by a fire demon named Calcifer,  who runs his castle. Howl has to fight a war for the king and is somewhat of a monster because he doesn’t have a heart to know how to judge if he is doing the right thing or not. And he is very careless and cowardly.

Secondary theme is the love interest between Sophie and Howl. He feels the heaviness and the burden of his heart. How she ends up become young again but still has “starlit” colored hair.

What I think about their love interest is that there will be a blue sky and green grass meadow. Mood = love. Sophie and Howl. Very simple.

Colors: Very natural, blue sky with clouds and very green grassy meadow with flowers and mountains.

Mood: Love between Sophie and Howl and the burden of his heart. And how she isn’t old anymore but she still has “starlit” colored hair.

Characters: Howl and Sophie.

Other Visuals: a cottage in the back ground and maybe howl’s castle too.

Breadth # 4 – Photography & Typography

Breadth 4

In this assignment, we composed/shot a photography and incorporated text into the image. This is a photo of my best friend. I made the image black and white first and then I manipulated text that describes him and his personality. Then I added noise, and cropped it so there wouldn’t be so much white space.

Breadth # 3 – Series of two

Breadth 3 pt 1

Breadth 3 pt 2

In this piece we were given the task to create two different of the same kinds of image about something we used everyday and that we take for granted. But, mine did not turn out the way I liked, and they were two completely different kinds of image. Both were about recycling but I strayed from what I originally had planned to do. The second piece was actually my first piece and the one above that was suppose to look as simple as it.

Breadth # 2 – Urban Landscape

Breadth 2

In this piece we were given the task to do something with urban landscaping. So I wanted to create the effect that makes a photography look like a toy, because it inspired me. For this piece, I feel that I could have made the boat more crisp and more looking like a toy.

Breadth # 1 – Self-portrait

Breadth 1

In this piece our task was to create a self-portrait of ourselves and what makes us our own individual. I created myself with type because my life is mostly about texting. I text everywhere and anywhere. You will always catch me texting. I also love to go to the beach, so I combined those two elements to create this piece.
