Proper Width for Text Columns | Stuff Designers Do

Having the right width for your text is important. This is so that it’s not hard on the eyes of the viewer. You don’t want a wide column of words, and it’s better to have a little bit of a bigger font. Generally the rule of thumb for a column of text is 45-75 characters and spaces. But the ideal width is 66 characters. To get this ideal width you multiply the pixel height of the type by 30 and that would be your pixel across. It is also bad to have less than 45 characters in a column.
